SUMMARY:Amanda Jones "Repairing Inevitable Ruptures"
DESCRIPTION:SQUIGGLE ONLINE \nRepairing Inevitable Ruptures \nRecent infancy research offers some useful ideas about how repairing misunderstandings is co-created in parent-baby relationships.  A parent’s history inevitably matters\, but the baby is also an active participant.  Using a case example\, the talk will explore how unconscious processes contribute to what happens. \nDr Amanda Jones is Consultant Perinatal Psychotherapist and Head of a multi-professional community Perinatal Parent–Infant Mental Health Service in London\, UK. She advocates for publicly funded perinatal mental health services\, recognising that emotional and relational challenges can emerge before or during pregnancy and often continue into the toddler years. \nHer leadership is marked by the capacity for the often difficult task of holding in mind the perspectives of parents\, babies and professionals simultaneously. This enables her to create services that are both clinically rigorous and deeply humane. \nInternationally sought after as a teacher and supervisor\, Amanda is widely respected for her ability to translate complex theory in parent–infant psychotherapy into clear\, accessible language. She shares her expertise through professional training\, conference presentations and widely broadcast documentaries\, including the award-winning Help Me Love My Baby\, which has brought the realities of early therapeutic intervention to a broader audience. \n  \nHow to register: \nSquiggle Members free \nNon-members £30 Tickets via Eventbrite \nStudents £15 contact info@squiggle-foundation.org

SUMMARY:Tom Shkolnik "Marion Milner On Screen: Filming A Life of One's Own"
DESCRIPTION:SQUIGGLE ONLINE \nMarion Milner On Screen: Filming A Life of One’s Own \nMixing fiction\, documentary and dance\, A Life of One’s Own brings to life the book by psychoanalyst\, writer and painter\, Marion Milner. \nIn her book\, twenty-six-year-old Marion Milner sets out to find\, “the conditions in which happiness accord.” Rejecting “mass produced ideals” she favours self-observation\, investigating her own experience through the keeping of a diary. A seven-year journey unfolds\, Milner creating a personal and idiosyncratic language for the workings of the mind. \nFilmed predominantly inside the Lichtburg\, the rehearsal room of choreographer Pina Bausch\, A Life of One’s Own unfolds in a Theatre of the Mind\, conjuring moments from Milner’s diaries for her to observe\, with Milner played by an actor and a dancer. \nA Life of One’s Own is the culmination of a decade of research by filmmaker Tom Shkolnik into the life and work of Marion Milner\, supported by friend and psychoanalyst\, Adam Phillips and Milner’s grandson\, Giles Milner. Tom’s talk will reflect on the project and the process of bringing Milner’s ideas to life on screen. \nTom Shkolnik trained as a director at the Drama Centre London. Whilst there\, he made his first two shorts\, Headphones and A Picture of Me. In 2006\, he made In The Dark as part of the Coming Up series for Channel 4\, followed by One Happy Moment. His feature debut\, The Comedian premiered at the London Film Festival in 2012 and was nominated for both the Sutherland Award and Best British Newcomer. In 2022 Tom made The Women by the Lake\, the first instalment of the Isolation Trilogy. He is currently raising funds to complete the editing of A Life of One’s Own: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/a-life-of-ones-own-a-film  \n  \nHow to register: \nSquiggle Members free \nNon-members £35  Book tickets via Eventbrite \nStudents £20 contact info@squiggle-foundation.org
